SCOTT CRUMLEY

My memories of Vernon go back to when I was a child and I am nearly 60 years old. My Father, Maxwell H. Crumley spoke of Vernon from time to time. My Dad worked for LCRA and he often came to Austin. When he spoke of Vernon, he spoke with respect because he was an Officer of the Peace on the Austin Police force. Old names of Families who once were a part of Austin history are important. Despite the fact that the Crumley name may no longer be associated with many businesses or public offices, we still have been a part of this growing community since the middle 1800s. Vernon's ancestry is a prime example of that very idea. His Great Great Grandfather, Dr. Benjamin T. Crumley was a well respected member of the medical community in Austin in the late 1800s. Some of Dr. Crumley's children went on to be deputies for various law enforcement agencies in Texas. I am proud that Vernon Crumley followed in their footsteps. He will be missed but never forgotten.
