Condolences

Condolence From: Ray
Condolence: I am Homers neighbor who has all the Labradors. Gosh he loved seeing them. Whenever he was out I would always bring one over to visit with him. The last time was a few weeks ago when he was out trying to untangle fishing line, so while I untangled the line he sat and rubbed my Labs ears. I don\'t thing either ever wanted it to stop. Over the years I watched his memory slowly slip away, but he always remembered the dogs and loved to visit with them. And would always say Thank You for bringing them over when it was time to go. We will miss you Buddy, the world is a better place because you were here. Peace be with you. Ray & the Gang

Condolence: Our Homer,
He was a warm, friendly, kind, loving, and dedicated man who loved his family and friends as well as God’s world. He was fascinated with nature, especially his birds, deer, squirrels, and glorious garden. Homer was more than a neighbor to us. He was a dear friend and family member. We will miss him so much, but will think of him every time we hear a bird tweet or see a flower bloom. We pray for God’s peace and blessings for Saundra and all who loved him.
And now, here are some “Homer stories”: For years, deer have delivered their babies around our houses. While Homer was in the rehabilitation facility this summer, a doe gave birth to two fawns. We named them ‘Oscar’ and ‘Homer’. We see them occasionally wandering across Homer’s yard.
One morning we arose to find 2 bucks, 4 doe, and Oscar and Homer standing in Homer’s front yard. That was the day he was taken to the hospital with pneumonia.
The night after Homer entered Paradise, an owl, behind our adjacent properties, was hooting praise for over an hour. We have not heard the owl in almost a year and have not heard him since.
And, as Homer would say, “Praise the Lord!”
We are missing you, Joe and Camille Street

Condolence From: Kevin Gibbs
Condolence: Dear Homer,
I wanted to share a story with your family and loved ones. I remember when the Gibbs' lived in Austin, you took me fishing. When we were headed home, you noticed someone in need along the roadside. You stopped and gave the weary traveler a ride to their destination. I was a little scared because I was young and did not know much. What I witnessed was a kind man doing God's work. You did what God has asked us all to do..."do to the least of mine, you do unto Me". Thank you, Homer, for allowing me to witness your kindness. The Gibbs' family all have such fond memories of our time together. If it had not been for you, I would not have had the chance to know your wonderful family. Joyce, Coleman, Cheryl and David Kyle are my family and I love them very much. Your hugh smile, infectious laugh and kind/gentle heart will remain with me always until we meet in Paradise. Love, Kevin Gibbs

Condolence: Homer always had a friendly wave and hello at the beckon. It was Homer who would collect a newspaper and leave it at the front door, or bring in a garbage cart. He'd inquire about family with genuine interest, and showed a beautiful concern for the safety and well being of the neighborhood cats. We will miss his gentle and generous soul. He was truly the good neighbor.

Condolence: I haven't known Homer as long as many have but I really enjoyed becoming his friend. He was a wonderful man and always made the people he was around smile--and laugh, He was a caring person and always made life more interesting. My heart goes out to his wife and family as I know they loved him so much. I feel lucky that I got to know Homer. He surely will be missed. But his image in our hearts and minds will never go away--because he made that kind of impression on people. God Bless You Homer. And God be with the loving family.

Condolence: I have fond memories of fishing with Uncle Homer at Lake Travis when he lived on the lake. He'd always bring a bag of Cheetos and of course would usually catch the most fish. He was always singing, always smiling, always bringing smiles to other peoples' faces. I fed deer with him, bird-watched with him, and listened to him tell stories. He was a great man and it was an honor to know him and to be his nephew. My thoughts and prayers are with the family this weekend and the coming days, especially Saundra (whom I call Aunt Nonnie), who was by his side until the end. I can surely see him now, standing on that beautiful shore in Heaven and fishing with the Lord. Thanks for your life and for the memories, Uncle Homer! Rest in peace.

Condolence: Nonnie & Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Homer was a man with a gusto for life. He never met a stranger and was always eager/willing to strike up a conversation with anyone! He enjoyed the good things this life has to offer and had an infectious laugh when something hit his funny bone 'just right'. I have so many fond memories of Homer and will always remember his kindness to me and the wonderful way he lived life to the fullest. May God grant unto you a certain peace and calmness as you go through this difficult time and may you always remember how much he was loved by 'the sisters, including sista Bro'. We love you! Bo
