Obituary for Delaine G. "Tip" Tipton

Delaine G "Tip" Tipton, 78, retired research engineer for the University of Texas in Dallas, died on July 26, 2012. Tip was born in Collins, Iowa on April 17, 1934 to Georgia and Leonard Tipton. He graduated from Valley High School in Valley, Nebraska and served in the U.S. Army for several years before going on to graduate from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation he moved to Dallas and worked at Collins Radio, Texas Instruments and the University of Texas in Dallas, where he remained for 24 years. At UTD Tip worked in the physics department designing circuits for university research equipment as well as for NASA space shuttles and U.S. defense projects.

While living in Dallas, he met and married Betty Davol of Austin on April 8, 1967. He is survived by his wife Betty, son Michael and his wife Jennifer, son John, daughter Sandy, and grandchildren Hayes, Georgia, Kate, Anna Beth and Maggie, whom he loved very much. Tip is also survived by his sister Jeanne Dorough, and brothers Carl Tipton and Don Tipton. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Dorothy Tipton Dasher and Lorraine Tipton and his brothers Ross Tipton and Tom Tipton.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the wonderful friends and caregivers who offered their love and support.
The family will receive friends at a memorial reception on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Tarry House, 3006 Bowman Ave., Austin, Texas.
