William Lawrence Nelson of Garfield passed away suddenly and unexpectedly early on Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Austin. Billy, as he was known to friends and family, was born February 17, 1972 in Austin, son of Diane Elizabeth and Larry C. Nelson.

Billy married his wife Christine Arnold Nelson on October 31, 1999 in Round Top, Texas. He was her heart and soul mate.

Billy graduated from Del Valle High School in 1990. He was a good guy with a calm, strong, sweet presence who brought joy, laughter and a sense of living in the moment wherever he went. He had a big, wonderful laugh and the best cowboy yell ever!!! He was an awesome photographer and videographer who was able to capture the true spirit of a moment.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Elizabeth Nelson.

Billy is survived by his wife, Christine Arnold Nelson and their only child, Triumph - the rescued kitty. He is also survived by his father, Larry C. Nelson; by his aunt LaVonne Nelson and her children Brian, Barry, Brenda, and Jayson; by his uncle Lyle Nelson, his wife Tracy Nelson, and his children Lance and Larissa; his cousin Catherine Sumrall Rasor and her husband Dan and their children Julia and Jonah; and other family members Linda Hermann, Michael and Shelly Hermann, Michele and Lonnie Bain, Dr. Donald Gibson and Melinda Gibson, Zachary and Bryan Gibson, Burl and Song Sumrall, Amanda and Thomas Sumrall. He was a hugely loved husband, son, uncle, cousin, and friend.

A Service to honor Billy’s beautiful, sweet spirit will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave, Austin.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests contributions in Billy’s memory to Austin Humane Society or any local animal rescue group.
