Condolence: Nancy was a dear "big sister" so many times she took me under her wing when too many of my "stray long hairs "got on Gretchens perfect bed!she also ,was a great confidante the night Gretchen found out some "hippy things " about me -she stayed up & talked w/ me all night. She & Lou helped me many a day or night after mysterious adventures Gretchen & would get into !I also remember one time when ,Lou confronted Grtechen & me about our "secret ticket' for peeling out " @ Pelicans wharf -somehow Lou & Jack knew we peeled in circles for @ least 30 mins b/4 the cops came..WELL,Gretch & I chased Nancy around that house & pool-screamming for hrs b/c Nancy knew we knew we had juicy news in a letter to Camp Waldemar- she coudlnt help but read that letter b/4 mailman came! Curiousity, tho was what made her such a good writer & friend & artist/designer .Her laugh was infectious -her wit brilliant .She helped me another time with my Daddy -she was cool & discreet& understanding .And her heart & soul were deep. Her love for animals was as unconditional as thier's for her.I had been writing Nancy since her diagnoses and will share w/ Gretchen -her love ,depth & ability to be candid make me sob today but have helped me thru the yrs .I will always respect "big sis"& she will be greatly missed by many.she was brave in ways some of us will never even touch .With much love to Gretchen ,Jack(she was SO PROUD OF) & John & Keni & all her ,nephews & the next generation -i appauled Nancy for her contributions to my life & the lives she touched on this short time on this planet .Love ,Sally Smith (and Kate ,too)We have made a contribution in her memory to SPCA

Condolence: I had the pleasure of working with Nancy on a couple of College of Pharmacy stories. She was great - so kind and gracious. I hope her family can find some peace in knowing about the fond memories we have of her.

Condolence: My condolences to Gretchen and John. I'm sorry I won't be able to be with you today but I will be thinking about sweet friend Nancy. Too young to leave us but she made her mark and it was a good one.

Condolence: I have many many of Nancy's pins. One year she made many yellow dogs and donkeys for our Texas Democratic Women convention and her pins are out all over Texas.

Condolence: I worked with Nancy at the UT News and Information Service in the early to mid-1980s. She was a wonderful writer, and I have so many happy and hilarious memories of her and our days to together at the news bureau -- days that sometimes tried the vast patience of the greatest boss and editor in history, Amy Jo Long. For example, the time Nancy wrote a news release that made it through editing and dissemination with the lead about an athlete who had run the "one-minute mile." Some random memories of Nancy -- how great she looked in her favorite color, red; having a houseful of black labs in Wimberley after her lab had puppies; her fabulous eye for decorating and fashion that she inherited from her mom and her Aunt Dot; her lemon bars made from her mom's recipe in the Austin Junior League cookbook; her talent for writing. She was a true original.

Condolence: In 1983 my husband and I moved to Austin. Shortly thereafter, I went to work for the UT News and Information Service and met Nancy. We were colleagues and friends all these many years even though I left the News & Information Service some time ago. In the past years, we reconnected both professionally and personally when she began writing stories about the College of Pharmacy. We shared an office the last few years before her retirement. I will miss her laughter, our political discussions, stories of her beloved animals, and her talented, gracious self.

Condolence: My cousin Nancy was my same age, as were her sister and brother peers of my sister and brother. It was always a joy to visit their home, and I share sweet memories of swimming in the pool and the Neff's warm hospitality.

Nancy's beautiful cottage in Wimberly was a perfect picture of her funny and creative pursuits! Like all the Neffs, Nancy had style and talelents uniquely her own.

My deepest condolences to her beloved family and dear friends.

Love,
David
