Joan Lane Thomas, age 87, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012.

Joan was born in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Ohio State University and the Kansas City Art Institute. She moved to New York City and worked for an advertising agency before traveling to Paris where she met her husband, Jim. She lived in Mexico City and Ecuador before settling in Connecticut and finally Austin.
Joan made the world around her beautiful and used her artistic skills and knowledge to start a Collectibles and Antique business. She never stopped learning, taking classes well into her eighties and loved nothing better than listening to the experiences and adventures of family and friends. Joan was the youngest of three amazing Lane sisters who set an example for their families of love, generosity and strength.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Dorothy and Mary. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, her son Jeff, daughter Susan and her husband Jim, daughter Karen and grandchildren Clara and Mario.

Services will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church on Saturday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m.
