Obituary for Elmo Hylton "Mo" Campbell

Elmo "Mo" Hylton Campbell, beloved father, grandfather, son and brother passed into eternal peace on July 23, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Elmo was born on September 14, 1934 in Buchanan Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army in California and then lived most of his adult life in Texas spending his last 7 years in the Austin area so he could be close to his children and grandchildren. He spent 17 years working for Reynolds Aluminum in Houston and then finished his work career as a long-haul truck driver traveling the country before retirement.
He was a wonderful provider and caregiver to his family and to the many pets he "rescued" over the years. Elmo loved to restore old cars and if family or friends needed something repaired, they could always rely on "Mr. Fixit".
Elmo's fun loving personality, infectious laugh and sense of humor brought smiles and laughter to all who knew him. He was always calm and cool, hip on current happenings, driving antique hot rods around town when he was younger; he was the "King of Cool". Elmo was honest, humble, unpretentious, nonjudgmental, caring and kind. He was truly a gentle man with a pure and loving soul.
He is survived by his wife, Etoile Aguilar and his five children; Mark Campbell, Jodie Evans and spouse David, Uleta McKinney & spouse Mitch, Robert Stites and Ricky Stites, brother Ray Matthews, sister Dora Ann Matthews, mother Ida Matthews, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Elmo's life will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish, 3125 N. Lamar at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 27th. Internment will immediately follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, Austin Pets Alive or Town Lake Animal Shelter.
