Dr. Ruth Adlof Haak, "Mamie" as she is known to her grandchildren, age 84 of Austin passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. She was born on June 6, 1928 to Arthur and Viola Adlof in Gonzales, Texas. Dr. Ruth married Lee Roy Haak in 1945. She attended A & I, Sam Houston State University, and University of Texas of Austin. She received her Doctorate in Education Psychology with a Masters in English. Dr. Ruth was employed with the UT at Austin, Balcones Special Services Coop. She enjoyed gardening, Robert E. Lee and American History.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Marie Adlof. Dr. Ruth is survived by her husband, Lee Roy Haak; daughter, Anna Lisa Haak Smith and husband Byron; son, Levi Arthur Haak and wife Cheryl Bulian-Haak; grandchildren, Danae Marie Collins Rice, Serin Roth Crouch, Duran Arthur Crouch, Gareth Riley Haak, Shanessa Lane Martinez; great-grandchildren, Taylor Pieper, Keiley Rice, James Rice, Shelby Crouch, Kolby Crouch, Abigail Crouch, Kylie Taylor Martinez.
Honoring Dr. Ruth and serving as pallbearers will be Gareth Haak, Duran Crouch, Serin Crouch, Tom McGraw, Bryan Stephens and Levi Haak. Honorary pallbearer will be Byron Smith.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Service 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery, Manchaca, Texas.
