Obituary for Betty Alice Day Robbins

Betty Alice Day Robbins of Spicewood passed away Friday, September 14th. She was born October 19, 1930 in Dallas, daughter of Pete and Margie Day.

Betty is survived by her husband Gene Robbins; daughter Marian Culpepper (Joel) of San Antonio, TX; son Brian (Jasmina) of Fort Collins, CO; grandsons Tim Culpepper (Liz) and Adam Culpepper; granddaughters Penny Platt and Aida Drljevic; and seven great-grandchildren. She was a doting grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a 1947 graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas and attended Austin Community College.

Betty held many volunteer positions among those were the Capital Area Planning Commission Council on Aging and Secretary of the Edgewater Beach Neighborhood Association. She supported many charitable organizations.

Betty loved to travel, visiting many nations throughout the world.

She was a member of the Lakeway Church and was a devoted Christian.

Betty was the recipient of the Edgewater Beach Neighborhood Association’s Good Neighbor award in 1994.

She was passionately devoted to her family. Her son-in-law Joel Culpepper proclaimed her the “Best mother-in-law in the world.” She had a friendly, outgoing nature and was loved by family and friends.

Her favorite activity was swimming near her home on Lake Travis. She also enjoyed reading and listening to audio books.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she found time for a varied work career including employment at the Natural Systems Laboratory and as a staffer at the Texas Legislature.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd., with Reverend Brent Graham officiating.
