Obituary for Michael Wayne Kilgore

Michael Wayne Kilgore of Austin, Texas passed from this life on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Mike was born on June 28, 1947 in Waco, Texas to Curtis Kilgore Sr. and Frances Nix Kilgore and grew up in Bruceville, Texas. Mike began his career with McLennan County Clerk’s office, where he worked for five years. He moved to Austin, Texas in 1972 to continue his career with Travis County and retired after 32 years of service. Mike was a kind, gentle man who accepted God at a very young age. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid basketball fan, with a special affection for the Texas Longhorns. Mike also loved a good practical joke, he would either make you smile or make you red in the face. He married the love of his life Catherine in 1975 and in 1981 they had the happiest day of their life with the birth of their only son Michael. The family was enriched with their “daughter” Daniela and pups Tiger, Leo and Mitzi.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; sister, Elizabeth Lightfoot; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Margie Gajdosik; brother-in-law, Douglas Wayne Duty; and sister-in-law, Margie Rejcek. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Daniela Kilgore; brother, Curtis and Darlene Kilgore; sister, Charlotte and Harold Procter; sister, Linda Kay Duty; brother-in-law, Joe and Pattie Lightfoot; brother-in-law, Louis and Pam Gajdosik; brother-in-law, Eugene Rejcek and Mary Niles. Nephews and Nieces: Tracy and Paula Lightfoot; Tim and Sharon Lightfoot; Trent Lightfoot; Richard and Pam Kilgore; Karen and Jimmie Channon; Velvet Goonan; Barbara Procter; Heather and Rick Grimmett; Priscilla and Poul Ober; Shawn Rejcek; and Amanda Gajdosik. He is also survived by his extended family, Rey and Patrizia Tortora Perez; Cynthia Stuart; Rodney Lucas; Tim Mertes; John and Jennifer Lucas Family; Robert and Tiffany Olson Family; Silvia Olson; Sherrill, Joe, Mike and Karen Geraty Family; Donald and Sybel Williams Family; Carol and Greg Lozano. He is also survived by his dear friends at the Travis County Probate Court.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave., Austin, Texas 78704. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Tuesday, September 4th at 7:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, South Congress. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 5th at 10:00 am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 4600 Ben White Blvd. Austin, Texas 78741. Graveside Service and Interment Wednesday, September 5th at 4:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery, West, Texas.
