Air Force Lt. Colonel Howard A. Spielman, 92, died August 23, 2012 in Austin, TX of natural causes.

Howard was born January 2, 1920 in Brooklyn New York where he met his wife of 60 years, Grace Valentine. He graduated from New York University and Yale. He admirably served his country in World War II and the Korean War through postings in the Pacific and the Pentagon, followed by 35 years of dedicated service to Western Electric.

Howard carefully cared for his children, Anthony and Dorothy, his twin grandchildren, Jason and Terence, and his four great grandchildren. He humbly and generously served in many Catholic ministries and civil communities in New York and Florida.

He is survived by his daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We miss him and love him dearly and know he is happy to return to his loving wife.

His life of honor, love, care and service will be celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic parish in Austin, TX on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
