Obituary for Margaret Ann Hawkins

Margaret Ann Hawkins was born in Austin, Texas, to Ernest and Helen Hawkins on January 7, 1936, and passed from this earth on August 21, 2012. She was preceded in death by her mother and dad and her sister, Nancy Hawkins.

Margaret Ann is survived by her sister, Sue Hawkins Thomas of Falls City, Texas, and her brother, Ernest (Bubba) Hawkins and sister-in-law Glenna of Rowlett, Texas. She is also survived by five loving nieces and nephews, Steve Thomas, Suzanne Thomas Houdmann, David Thomas, Laura Hawkins Hollingsworth, and Scott Hawkins. Survivors also include thirteen great nieces and nephews.

Margaret Ann spent most of her life teaching. She taught in Austin, Midland, and Houston. She also taught for the Department of Defense in Germany, Japan, Okinawa, and the Philippines. She loved traveling the world, reading, and working crossword puzzles. She gave generously to numerous charities, including her favorite, IHCF (African Christian Hospitals), 102 N. Locust St., Searcy, AR 72143. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to IHCF or another worthy charity.

Graveside services will be held at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, August 25, at 11:00 a.m.
