Condolence: Eternal Remembrance My neighbor passed. Seventy-eight years. Holding her daughter this morning. Felt eternal sorrow. Unexpected grief. My first real "neighbor"..my first house ‘how are you kids doing’ kind of neighbor. The neighbor who picks up your mail when out of town Who makes you warm baked goods as the weather chills. Even makes that perfect oatmeal raisin cookie Considerate were her deeds. "Hello kids"....these were my favorite words. "Got some fresh tomatoes for you, come on over" My heart carries her within. These precious memories True bond is not only shared between kin. But also defined in friendship, as is love. Forever unpredictable. And although knowing this moment was near. Prepared, I was not. This goodbye is not forever. Remembrance is eternal. You are eternal, Martha. Author Trish Perez-Contreras 09/14/2006
