Condolences

Condolence From: cheryl head
Condolence: Karen represented the best of public television. Deeply intelligent, thoughtful and caring. We had many conversations about how to improve things so that all our work would be elevated. She was serious in our conversations, but my favorite moments were when I could make her laugh so that I could see that wonderful twinkle in her eyes. Our colleagues at the NCO told me of Karen's passing, and I also want to send my condolences to her family and friends. She was a special spirit. cheryl head

Condolence From: John K. Fleming
Condolence: I was filled with a deep and profound sadness upon learning that one of our community leaders/workers, Mrs. Karen Quebe, Outreach Coordinator for KLRU passed away early Wednesday morning. No words can express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the honor, privilege and blessing of knowing such a strong, vibrant, bright, beautiful, gentle, kind and loving soul; my friend and colleague, Mrs. Karen Quebe. She was truly a one of a kind individual who lived as a true servant-leader with grace and alacrity. She was nationally recognized as the most outstanding outreach coordinator of all the KLRU stations within the United States! There will never be another like her! She was a pioneer and advocate for all that KLRU stood for and sought to represent. My personal testimony is that Karen had a lasting affect on my life (more than anyone could ever know) through her loving kindness and her timely advice and guidance while I served as chair of the KLRU Community Advisory Board (CAB). Her profound leadership and expertise to KLRU-TV, the KLRU CAB and the Austin community (particularly East Austin) through her community outreach will never be forgotten. My deepest sympathies and condolences go to Karen’s bereaved family, KLRU-CEO and General Manager Bill Stotesbery , the KLRU family of staff and the KLRU Community Advisory Board both past, present and yet to come. My prayer for everyone who knew her is that God’s exceeding comfort, abundant peace that passes all understanding, loving mercy and sufficient grace will guard each of your hearts during this time of remembrance of our dear friend and colleague. Although I am deeply moved and saddened by her departure from this life, MY HEART REJOICES in knowing that even now God Himself is smiling upon Karen Quebe. Her labor was NOT in vain. These two passages rest heavily on my heart at this time…. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. ~2 Timothy 4:6-8 Well done thy good and faithful servant: thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the JOY of thy Lord. ~Matthew 25:21 With much love, respect and honor to the memory and LEGACY of Mrs. Karen Quebe! John K. Fleming (Past Chair - KLRU Community Advisory Board)

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to your family during this very difficult time. I had the fortunate opportunity to meet Karen only a couple of years ago when we first began working together on the Echoes of Color film series that was launched as a collaborative effort between KRLU and other community partners. She was so very instrumental to the success of this program and it was a pleasure to get to know her. We met just a few weeks ago to begin making plans for next year's film series. I was saddened to learn of her passing; she will be missed tremendously. There are persons who come into our lives for only a short time, and yet you feel that your life has been made better by having known them. Karen was one of those persons for me. I will miss her and will continue to lift your family up in prayer.

Condolence: Ray, Jeff, and Julia, my deepest condolences to you. I was shocked and so saddened to hear of Karen's passing. Although it's been over twenty years since we've been in touch, I've thought of you all often over the years. I'll always remember with great fondness the times I spent with your family in your home, on the ski trip, and on the wonderful trip my mom and I took with Karen and Julia to California. Karen was an incredible person and an inspiration as a caring, enlightened, can-do woman and mom. My thoughts and sympathy are with you all.
