Lois Melba Zint, age 88, of Wimberley, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011.
Lois was born on September 10, 1922 in Winnsboro, Texas. She lived most of her life in Amarillo, Texas and had resided in Wimberley for the past ten years.
She was the youngest of ten children born to James and Minnie Barton, and was the last surviving sibling. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, George Zint. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Harvel and Paula Mashburn, as well as her granddaughter, Leanne Mashburn Layne, and great-granddaughter, Micaela Foster. Lois is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Lois was active in business for most of her life. She was the bookkeeper/business manager for several Amarillo businesses. Going into business for herself, Lois started a pet shop which became the largest in Amarillo.
After moving to Wimberley, Lois was active in numerous clubs and organizations. She started a Wimberley dance club for seniors, as well as a Texas Hold’em poker club. She was also active in local bridge clubs. Lois’s favorite organization was the Razzle Dazzle Red Hat Club of Dripping Springs, in which she was extremely active and had many dear friends.
Lois was an accomplished artist with a great love for oil painting. Many of her paintings have been displayed and sold in the Wimberley area. She also excelled in china painting, crocheting and was a talented seamstress.
Lois had a great need to be active her entire life. Most of her accomplishments were self-taught, and up until two weeks before her death, she was still doing the daily crossword in ink. Lois lived and died on her terms. She will be missed by her many friends and relatives.
