Obituary for Margie Lee Vaught

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Margie Lee Vaught, passed away on October 23, 2011 after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on February 20th, 1935, in Alliance, Nebraska to Clyde Raymond Rust and Mary Frances Rust. She was one of ten children. She attended St. Francis Catholic School in Sacramento, California. She met her husband, Jack Miller Vaught on a blind date in Sacramento. They were married on May 23, 1959 and moved to Austin, Texas where she devoted the next 50 years to her family and to many works of charity.
She volunteered with a servant's heart attitude, fulfilling many needs at Seton Hospital, Save the Children, Assistance League of Austin, Hospice Angel Heart, and the Battered Women's Shelter. She served on the board of The Children's Shelter and Assessment Center of Texas and Save the Children Austin, as well as Austin-Travis County Emergency Shelter for Infants and Children. She was a Bible Study Fellowship Leader and hosted a Bible study for many years in her home. She proudly served her community at the polls as an Austin Republican Poll Volunteer. For many years she was an active member at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, where she also served as a communion minister.

Margie Vaught was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Vaught, and her parents, Clyde and Mary Rust, along with seven of her nine siblings. She is survived by her brother, William Rust, of Midland, Oregon, and sister Mary June Brandon, of Davis, California; her son, Jack Mark Vaught and wife, Kristi, and their children, Valerie and Bradley, of Austin, Texas; and daughters, Julia Janecek and husband, Allen, and their children, Heather, Justin, and Holly, of Gonzales, Texas; Jennifer Danussi and husband, Gerry, and their son, Jacob, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and daughter, Jane Snowden and husband, Jeff, and their children, Jackson, Sarah, and Harrison, of Frisco, Texas.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care of Doctor Lynn Knowles of Texas Oncology, Hospice Austin, and the around the clock care by the angels of Charlie's Angels.
