Obituary for Naida Jacobsen

Naida Lu Groves Jacobsen passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. She was born January 23, 1911 in Des Moines, Iowa to Bessie and Wallace Groves. Naida graduated from Iowa State University with a B. S. in Foods and Nutrition. A year later she graduated from Wesley Memorial Hospital as a dietitian. Shortly after graduation she married Harry E. Jacobsen also a graduate of Iowa State University.
Naida and Harry traveled extensively in the United States and in many foreign countries as he pursued his career of building pipelines and compressor stations. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before Harry passed away in 2003 at the age of 93.
Naida was an officer and active member of American Association of University Women, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Parent Teachers Association in Arkansas and Houston, Methodist Womens' Association and the Houston Alpha Delta Pi alumnae association.
She is survived by Linda and Pat McCormack, daughter and son-in- law; Rick and Coleen Jacobsen, son and daughter-in-law; five grandchildren: Wyatt McCormack and wife Candice, Jocelyn McCormack, Michele Snethkamp and husband Eric, Kyle and Alyss Jacobsen; one great granddaughter, Scarlett McCormack; nephew Craig Mischler and niece Sally Jacobsen.
Services will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church December 3rd at 3:00 pm. She will be buried next to her husband at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas.
The family of Naida would like to give special thanks to her devoted caregivers: Annette Chelette, Lucy Gonzalez, Margie Bennett, and Reba Bryans.
