Condolence: Sweetness, sweetness. You are missed. We had such plans for many years ahead with you. But instead, we only had those few 33 months. Condolence: Mathaus' beautiful smile has blessed our walls here at the Bastrop CURVES since last year when his grandmother Louise brought his pictures for me to use during the 2011 Relay for Life. All the ladies here at CURVES prayed and asked about him often. We are all saddened by the loss and blessed to have known about his courageous battle, we met his grandmother, not him, and yet we feel the void! As the mother of a daughter who survived childhood cancer from the age of 15 months, my heart goes out to the family at this time.

Condolence: Thomas Campbell said, "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die". I believe that the short time Mathaus had with his loving family will always bless their hearts and minds, and give them peace. Mathaus himself imparted many lessons to us; to never give up, be joyful in the face of adversity, and love with all of your heart. We can also learn much from those he left behind. The unconditional love that his family always gave to him and each other is inspirational. The ability to hold tight to an ephemeral soul, knowing that you only have him for a brief time, must be the most heart-wrenching thng a family has to do. But the Owens never gave up, never gave in, and loved that little boy with everything they had. Thank you all, for teaching us grace, love, and hope. My thoughts and prayers are with you, hoping that you never forget, but soon find peace.

Condolence: Mathaus could not have asked for a better more loving family who took in everyday as a blessing to spend with him. His fighting spirit and love of life is an example for everyone to look on everyday as a gift.
