Wayne Larry Norin went home to the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2012. He was born in Goodrich, North Dakota to Lillian Hilda Schmidt (Norin) and Alvin Norin on January 17, 1924. Both parents preceded him in death, as did his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorene.
Wayne proudly served his country as a paratrooper from December, 1942 until January 1946, with valor, receiving a number of medals. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and retired in 1979 from Powers Regulator Company as Vice-President in Skokie, Illinois.
He was an avid golfer until his eyesight failed. Wayne was a devoted member and volunteer at Riverbend Church. He also volunteered his time with VistaCare Hospice in Austin. He attended a grief group on a weekly basis in honor of his wife.
He is survived by his dearly loved children, Nanci J. Norin and Scott L. Norin of Austin, Texas, his sister Patricia Weyhrauch of Ellicott City, Maryland as well as his wonderful caregiver, Debra A. Torres and neighbors Lou and Neil Moore.
Remembrance memorial services will be held at Riverbend Church, "Smith Chapel" at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be welcomed by the American Cancer Society.
