Obituary for Glenn Williams Jr.

Perrin Glenn (P.G.) Williams, Jr., better known to his family and friends as Glenn, passed from this world peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on July 27, 2012 as a result of a short illness.
Glenn was born on August 6, 1918 in Austin, Texas in the shadow of the state capitol. The young family soon moved to land south of Lockhart where his father started a dairy farm. Glenn graduated from Lockhart High School as valedictorian of his class. He then attended Southwest Texas State College and later transferred to the University of Texas in Austin where he majored in accounting. He graduated from UT with highest honors in 1939, earned his master's degree in accounting, and passed his exam to become a CPA. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a finance officer in many foreign locations including India and Africa and was discharged with the rank of Captain in April of 1946.
While serving in the Army, Glenn married Jane Valek in 1943 and later moved to Victoria, Texas in 1947 where he was employed in the firm of Slavik and Slavik. His hard work soon earned him a partnership. Glenn's practice quickly flourished, and soon he acquired two more partners. The firm was renamed Williams, Keller, and Harrison. It later became one of the largest and most successful CPA firms in Victoria. After Glenn's retirement, the couple moved to Austin in 1978 and later bought a home in Lakeway where they spent many happy years together. They then moved to the Heritage at Gaines Ranch in Austin.
Jane and Glenn enjoyed traveling together and took two around-the-world trips as well as over 12 cruises. They escaped the Austin summers by going to their condo in Vail, Colorado and also enjoyed traveling to Spain for several winters. After Jane passed away after 62 years of marriage, Glenn moved to the Conservatory at Wells Branch and made many close friends during his seven years there. He was a big UT fan and often watched the Horns' football games on the big screen in the Conservatory's large theater. He also enjoyed his men's exercise classes and attending many social events.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jane Williams, and by his son, Ron Williams. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Carter of San Antonio, Texas, his daughter, Glenda Croom and husband Bud of Round Rock, Texas, and his daughter-in-law, Tracie Williams of Miami, Florida. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Scott Evans of Dallas, Texas, Caroline Ford and husband Jason of Murphy Texas, Stephanie Ramirez and her husband, John of Pflugerville, Texas, Blake Williams of Dallas, Texas, Edward Williams of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Kierstan Williams of Miami, Florida. His great granddaughter, Alise, was the apple of his eye. He will be deeply missed by his special friend, Rhea Frisbie.
Special thanks are given to the personnel of Heart to Heart Hospice, who made his last days comfortable, and especially to Angela, his hospice nurse who was indeed an angel of mercy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Cemetery on IH 35 South in Austin. A special memorial service will be held at the Conservatory at Wells Branch at a later date.
