Obituary for Silbestre "Peter" Rositas III

With my deep love and affection for my brother Silbestre Rositas III, I have taken the opportunity to announce the occasion of his passing. On August 2nd, at 6:07 a.m. our Almighty Father carried him away from all his pain and suffering due to his continuously brave battle with cancer. My brother continued to maintain his sense of humor and faith, with spiritual strength and smiles for everyone. He entered our lives on February 8th, 1965. He brought much happiness to our family, and as his Godmom Rosemarie Acosta proudly proclaims, "Silbestre III has always been special to his family since he inherited his Grandfather's name."
Survivors include his mother, whom he cherished dearly, Modesta Benites Rositas. Preceded in death by his beloved father who taught him how to do carpenter work, cooking, mechanics, Silbestre Rositas Jr. Dad was known as "Peter", so my brother carried on his nickname. Also preceded in death by his Grandparents, on Mom's side of the family were Juan and Elena Benites. On Dad's side of the family our Grandparents, his namesake, Silbestre Sr. and Felipa Rositas, all from Austin. Survivors also include his oldest sister, myself, Mary Esther Rositas, his other sisters Rosemarie Rositas-Mendez, husband Chris Mendez and Mary Alice Rositas-Cantu, husband Paul Cantu Jr. all from Austin. Surviving brothers, Manuel B. Rositas and Peter Paul Rositas from Austin. Also his beloved Pam Sterling, who was his support and source of happiness through sickness and health. Nephews by sister Mary Alice Cantu include Paul Cantu III, Silbestre Cantu, Isaac Cantu, and niece Angel Cantu. Nephews by sister Rosemarie Mendez include C. J., Jeffrey, and Jonathan. Niece Ariana Mendez, and preceded in death by nephew Isaiah Mendez.
He was preceded in death by his Uncle Manuel Benites, Uncle Andres and Aunt Isabel Rodriguez from Sabinal, Uncle Frank Ancira, Aunt Eloisa and Uncle Joe Gamboa all from Austin, Aunt Janie Benites from Lubbock, Uncle Ernest Ojeda, Uncle Juan Rositas, all from Austin. Uncle Mike Rositas from Edinburg and Uncle Felix from Michigan. Also preceded in death by his Aunt Antonia and Uncle Santiago Vidouria, Aunt Luisa Ojeda, and beloved friend/Cousin David Ancira.
Survivors include his Aunt Frances Ancira, Aunt Paula Benites from Austin. Survivors on Dad's side of the family, Uncle Edward Rositas and Aunt Anita Rositas from Leander, Aunt Sandy Ojeda from Del Valle, Aunt Romana Rositas. Uncle Tony Rositas, cousins Paul Ojeda and Janie Castillo. Aunt Connie Garcia from Houston, Godmom and Godfather Rosemarie and Raymond Acosta from Pflugerville.
A special appreciation for support during illness to Pam Sterling for consistent all time support and care, cousins Anita Rodriguez, Steve and Norma Gamboa, Godparents Rosemarie and Raymond Acosta, sisters Mary Alice Cantu and Rosemarie Mendez, cousins Paul Ojeda and Adrian Benites and sincere thanks to Pastor Francis Rodriguez for spiritual guidance and support. Sincere appreciation to sister Rosemarie Mendez, Godmom Rosemarie Acosta, nieces Angel Cantu and Ariana and nephews Jonathan Mendez, Paul Cantu III, brother Manuel Rositas and cousin Deacon Edward Rositas, special friend Pastor Francis Rodriguez for their support in preparation for services. Sincere appreciation to his cherished Godparents Rosemarie and Raymond Acosta who took him under their wing while Mom stayed with me while hospitalized in Houston, and blessed him at birth and at his final day on earth. Thanks to cousins Vanessa and Chris Ancira for their love and support while he resided at Ogden and Kaysville, Utah. Special thanks also to Make a Dream Come True Foundation who made his wish come true and provided him and Pam with a Limousine ride to a Dallas Cowboy Football Game at Texas Stadium. Also thanks to The American Cancer Society who provided transportation on fancy sports cars to his radiation treatments.
Services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 2620 South Congress Ave. all morning and afternoon on Sunday August 5th. Reciting of Rosary conducted by his cousin Deacon Edward Rositas will be held at 7:00 p.m. Music by his brother Manuel Rositas, and poetry readings by nieces Angel Cantu, Ariana Mendez and nephew Jonathan Mendez. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday August 6th at Assumption Cemetery, located at 3650 IH-35, conducted by Pastor Frances Rodriguez.
Pallbearers include: Uncle/Godfather Raymond Acosta, brother Peter Paul Rositas, cousins John Benites, Maurice Benites, Ernest Ojeda, and nephew Paul Cantu III.
Honorary Pallbearers consist of Rockele and Chyesha Johnson, cousin Adrian Benites and best friend Carlo Ray.
Sincere appreciation to Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Director Johnny Lack and also Linda for their kind and considerate support.
