Obituary for Boris Danielowsky

Boris Kolberg von Danielowsky, beloved husband and father, passed away Sunday, August 12, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his entire family. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Anneliese (Jürgens) Danielowsky; daughters, Gabriele D. Rose and husband Dean Rose; Susanne D. Musta and husband Charles Musta; and two granddaughters, Caylee Rose, and Alexandra Musta.
Born in Crasnodar, Russia, in 1917, son of Georgovich Kolberg von Danielowsky and Louise Esterhazy- Danielowsky, he is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and sisters, and one niece. After leaving Russia in 1921, the family later settled in Augsburg, Germany, where he earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering. WWII sidelined his career, which resulted in him spending most of the war years in Kenya, Africa. On his return to Germany in 1947, he met and married Annelie in 1951, had two daughters, and soon thereafter, immigrated to the United States, moving to Houston, Texas, where he and his wife lived and raised their family until 1972. After several moves, spending time in Witchita Falls, San Antonio and Dallas, they ultimately retired to Austin, Texas in 1985.
Boris' engineering expertise allowed him to design turbines and a marine robot for the submarine industry. His love for tinkering gave him the outlet to rebuild an old 1959 French Citroen car as well as antique timepieces. None of that took away from his unyielding love for his family with whom he spent countless hours travelling and making beautiful memories.
He and his wife have been long time members of Southwest Church of Christ in Houston, Texas and University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin, Texas. Funeral services for Boris Danielowsky will be at 2:00pm, Friday, August 17, 2012 at University Avenue Church of Christ, 1903 University Ave., Austin, TX 78705.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to UA Church of Christ, Christian Service Center.
