Obituary for Steven Grant McMillon

Steve McMillon, 61, passed away on August 13, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born in Abilene, Texas, to R.L. McMillon and Elsie E. Roberts.

He graduated in 1969 from Midland Lee High School. During his Senior year, Steve was quarterback on the varsity football team, and was the starting pitcher for the Rebels at the state baseball tournament that year. He was also voted by his peers the honor of "Mr. Midland Lee High School."
Steve graduated from Texas Tech University in 1972, and was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity.
From 1972 to1984, he owned and successfully operated his own business in Houston, called McMillon Management.
In Austin, Steve enjoyed a long career as a real estate broker, where he was the Senior Vice President for The Kucera Companies. He received many honors and accolades from both the real estate industry and the Austin community throughout his career.
Steve was full of joy and loved by all that knew him. He enjoyed so many interests, which included cooking, fishing, hunting, golfing, photography, and singing/playing the guitar. He especially enjoyed sharing time with his family and friends. He cooked incredible meals and created lasting memories for all who took part in his festivities.

Steve had an infectious laugh and a most generous heart for everyone he met. As he would say, every day was "just another day in paradise...."
He is preceded in death by his parents, R. L. and Elsie McMillon and his wife Mary Beth McMillon.
He is survived by his sister Toni McMillon Helmer and her husband Charlie, his children, Jason McMillon, Lindsay McMillon Browne and her husband Con; and Alex McMillon and his fiancé Hathaway, and granddaughter, Alexandra Browne.
He is also survived by his fiancé, Marjorie Burciaga.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Steve's honor to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Austin.
